These Days

These days, I’m left here to wonder
Why so much confusion and doubt
The changes come like rolling thunder
And they shake me from within and without

These days, I’m growing tired
Of mankinds’ obsession
With hate
Some say we’ve entered
The new age
Feels like we’re
Light years away

Too much blind rage
Too much greed
The big lies are
Taking their toll

We turn on a dime
When it’s just word of mouth
And the wheel
Spins out of control

These coulda been our
Days of heaven
Not another fight for
Traditions and tribes
Gotta rally the forces
Set the flags at half mast
Tell em God’s on their side
And widen the great divide

These days , I’m left here
To wonder
Are we adrift and alone
Don’t know what to believe
Or who you can trust
No compass to. Find our way home

Some work a day shift
Some work at night
Some work em both
Just to get by
Little or nothin left
At the end of the day
They’re trapped
On the treadmill of life

These coulda been our
Days of heaven
Not another fight for
Traditions and tribes
Rally your forces
Set the flags at half mast
Tell em god’s on their side
Widen the great divide

We got a red team, we got a blue
They never see eye to eye
When the day comes and we’re
Laid to our rest
All will be color blind
Be no more conquer and divide

These days I’m left here
To wonder
Will it be too little too late
I pray for that time when
When love so sublime
Vanishes all envy and hate

I pray for a time when
Love so sublime
Vanishes all envy
And hate
