Space in Time

I remember flying high
On a backyard swing
Safe in the arms of a willow tree
Under cool shades of green

Lazy hazy summer days
When the sun won’t hide
And sudden claps of thunder
Chased us all inside

I’m lookin back
At another space in time

I remember skipping stones
Cross a clear blue lake
Paper kites flying overhead
When the winds blew straight

Tall tales and laughter
By campfires bright
In the pitch black Adirondacks
Under northern lights

I’m looking back at another
Space in time

And it all went by so slow
Father time got to dreaming
And left us on our own
And it only goes to show
Memories act like fireflies
Now you see them… now you don’t

I remember steamers
From the Great South Bay
Hangin off the bow of a ferry boat
In the wind and spray

Endless hours at the ocean
Watching seagulls glide
And the sandpipers running from
The sea foam
On an incoming tide

I’m looking back at
Another space in time

I never look down, I never look back
If the past intends to blind me

There’s so much more
I’m looking for
In futures yet to find me

Never let the bitter ones
Take their toll
When the sweetest ones
Give off a lasting glow

I remember shooting stars
On a moonlit beach
Wrapped in the arms of
A summer love
Kisses long and sweet

We knew it was part time
With an expiration date
But, the temps kept singing
My girl
At the perfect time and place

I’m looking back at
Another space in time

I remember Sundays
At the Cafe Wha
Richie havens singing his heart out
On a beat up guitar

The fat black pussy cat
Washington Square Park
Brother Theodore keeping em’ spellbound
At the cafe bizarre

I’m looking back at
Another space in time

And it all went by so slow
Father time got to dreaming
He left us on our own
And it only goes to show

Memories burn like embers
They leave a lasting glow

Remember na,na,na na na na
Late at night
Or
How does it feel to be one of the beautiful people
